Merlyn Chipman is an artist, maker and audio video production manager from so-called “Vancouver BC” on the unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations. First mesmerized by video feedback in 1998. Merlyn’s artwork spans live improvisational audio/video, interactive installation art, textiles and 3D creation. Merlyn identifies himself as a "Video Feedback Artist." Video feedback occurs when a video signal is passed from a video camera to a monitor while the camera and monitor are pointed at each other.

Merlyn’s performance art has split into two streams. The first is Psychedelic Attack, the stage name he uses to perform music in overlapping spectrums of Noise and Drone using video and audio feedback as his instrument. The second is “visuals”, i.e., interpreting live music of other artists with video feedback.

Having worked as a Hypnotherapist and Neurofeedback technician, the consciousness altering nature of technology has been a consistent theme in all his performance work.

Merlyn has is a member of the Redgate Art Society and Locomoto Art. He has Performed in the International Symposium for Electronic Art, MiniMaker Fair and many local Canadian art festivals and shows over the years. Merlyn has also performed live and given workshops internationally.
